Last

2019

Last contains the polarity between end and continuation, both in the sense of being the last one and as a verb form that refers to something that endures (to last). As we celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birthday, his late string quartets are the main conductor of this choreography. It was a choice dictated by their complexity, boldness, contrasts and poetics, and by the rationale of the composition displayed by a hot-tempered, deaf man.

This relation between human body and music becomes even more literal and visible with the live performance of the Matosinhos String Quartet.
